This, That and Everything in Between

Good Evening Children!
As the Snow goes away and the grass starts to poke out from under it, I really just want to roll on it and become a grass-hugger (if that's such a thing), and I feel like everyone else who lives in New York does as well (I'm thinking new club?). It is the most hilarious thing walking around and just been so grateful that you can now, after so many weeks, see grass (it's a beautiful thing). Until the first day of spring hits and we have a snow storm (now I'm real angry), goodbye grass! I couldn't believe it I really thought it was just gonna get warmer but no it had to snow. This really has become the longest winter in a very long time and I didn't even build a very good snowman (priorities).

Any who, another friend is leaving on Friday so we had our last weekend together in the city with her. Its always so sad when a friend leaves. I'm over saying goodbye now, people need to stop leaving thank you I would appreciate it! We went to a Broadway show called Finding Neverland which was absolutely brilliant, with the teacher from Glee as the main Actor and Kelsey Grammar who was hilarious. I really recommend it if you are ever in NYC!

We also stopped by Time Square and thought 'Hey lets get ourselves on a billboard' so we did, just casually.

At the moment my host families Dog has a bit of diarrhea, so she decides to poo in my room which was such a nice present! So glad I didn't have to clean it up, and to make sure she didn't do it again I put underwear on her, she looked hilarious I wish I had a photo to show you but you can imagine a dog wearing underwear, can't you? So weird!

Guysssss I'm so excited because one of my best friends is coming over, all the way from Australia ekkk! I didn't realize but I haven't seen her for 2 years and it's insane that we are going to meet again in New York of all places!

Also it is my 21st birthday on Friday WOOP WOOP! So weird that I'm gonna be 21 and I'm spending it in New York, like that's crazy cool. A bit strange that I won't be with my family celebrating, but I am happy that I have amazing friends here who I can celebrate it with. 21 though that's quite old for me, I don't know how I feel about being that age... hmm interesting.

Anyway that's me for this week. have a fab weekend!

Goodbye and Hello!

Oh New York, New York you are my friend!
For the past few weeks I have not posted anything because,
Number 1 - I was hibernating
Number 2 - I got sick of this freezing weather
Number 3 - And I was practicing my juggling (not really.. well maybe once)

But now it has stopped snowing and has been getting warmer and warmer! So its time to come out and tell you what's being going on.

As you know it was snowing just last week and we got about 8inchs of snow. Now that's crazy for March! It has been the longest winter this year and I JUST want to wear shorts!

I also said goodbye to one of my best friends who came at the same time as me. Which was sad because she had been from the start of this crazy journey. I haven't been able to take a perfect selfie ever since she left (it's the saddest thing).

We even brushed our teeth together! Miss you Claudia you crazy cat x

Latest news is I became an AUNTY!!! Breony Elizabeth Liebezeit. She is so beautiful and absolutely adorable I just want to boat home and kiss and hug her. And its crazy to think that my brother is now a DAD, time flies people! I can't wait to teach her how to dance ekkkk and to buy her cool clothes. Oh I love being an Aunty!
Cutest baby ever!!!

Well that is all for now, I hope you enjoy this little blog. Until next time!

Front row at a Fashion Show?! Girl please!!

Good evening or Good morning! (wherever you are in the world)

It is snowing again here in New York and has been absolutely freezing! Like so bitterly cold that you have to wrap every part of your body up when you go outside, otherwise you get frostbite. This means you either have to wear a ski mask that makes you look like a robber (that could be interesting in Grand Central Terminal). Or you wrap a scarf around your whole face and just leave a slit for your eyes so only your eyes get frostbite (I don't think that could happen or could it?). I prefer the scarf look, as the whole mask deal... well kinda creepy.

Anyway I braved this cold winter last Friday and stepped outside in just tights and a jumpsuit (don't worry I did have a coat, scarf and was wearing gloves). But that didn't really help my legs much... well at all. But anything for style my amigos, as I was going to a Couture Fashion Show! Ekkkkk Honestly one of the most amazing nights. Sitting in the front row of a REAL New York fashion show. It really is just like you see it on TV, with the big runway that is layed out in a 'n' shape and at the top of the runway all the photographers (like so many of them). And watching all these amazing designs come down the runway, hoping that that model doesn't trip or that dog doesn't start biting everyone (yes there was a dog in the fashion show), or that lady's boobs don't fall out (use tape people, use tape). It was really such a great show and I'm so happy I went, because it was one of the things I just HAD to do before leaving New York. It was on my invisible list of things to do.
I took a photo of every design and a few videos of the ones that I loved. But I will only show you a few. The Designers were Laura Angelica Moss, Alvertis Alexander, Baqash Wilson, Berny Martin, Matthew Cashe and Rashad Colhoun. I've never heard of any of these designers but they were brilliant!

One Year in the Big Apple!

I cannot believe I have lived in New York now for one whole YEAR! I remember the first few months of being here, it was very difficult; learning a new culture, living in someone else's house, making new friends, going to a new church, living without my parents for the first time, the MANY coins (why America?!). But it was also very exciting, living in a new place, living in NYC (hello best place in the world), going to Broadway shows, Brooklyn bridge, being a grown up, acting like I understood pounds at the gym (awkward), being told my accent was amazing in every store, learning American words, and always having something to do!

To this day people still have no idea what I am saying (I am speaking English and no I am not Spanish). I have had to learn how to spell my last name with an American accent and have actually had to learn a lot of words to say in an American accent, otherwise it takes Americans a very, very longtime to understand what I'm actually saying or this happens, 'that was really rude Krystal' and I will go, 'what? how is 'teddy bear' a rude word.' yes it is very funny sometimes!

I have made lifelong friends, they are the bees knees!! So happy to have them all in my life, you may know them as #Wolfpack. We have done some crazy stuff together that we will remember forever. One of my friends left today who I began this whole NYC journey with, which is so very sad and strange that she will no longer be here!
Also being a volunteer at church has just been amazing my team is the best, so supportive, caring and loving!

Christmas time! 🎄

Hello all my beautiful people,
Merry Christmas to all of you out there! I know we are all over Christmas, but my decorations in my house are still up and I still feel Christmassy. So I'm still celebrating! Getting fat, staying up late, watching movies, looking at the Christmas tree, listening to Christmas music.. I mean, I'm in America we gonna be celebrating for the next month (probably not) but the decorations will still be up for another month.. yep that is how we do.

Christmas here is very different from New Zealand. First of all its winter here. Now every person I have talked to is like 'what?! you saying you have Christmas in the summer, now that ain't a real Christmas!' Yes it may not be a real Christmas to you, but who wants to be celebrating the Lords birth when it is cold and it ain't even snowing (what's the point), I personally would rather be at the Beach swimming and getting burnt, now that is a good Christmas.  Any who apart from that it has actually been a great Christmas and yes it does feel more like Christmas when it is freezing and you can wear ugly Christmas sweaters (it is a thing).

From the start of December you immediately feel like it is Christmas for example Christmas lights and decorations go up in peoples houses and in the city. You have the big lighting of the Christmas tree at the Rockefeller, which everyone watches on TV or you actually go see it light up.

Then there is the big Macy window display (which is annoying because all the tourists just stand watching it blocking the path), the ice skating rink gets put in at Bryant Park along with the Market. Now most of you won't have a clue what I am talking about, but to those that do, I'm sure it will bring back great memories. New York City really has the Christmas Spirit going it is pretty amazing!

Christmas Eve, my host dad's family came around. They are all Italian so the Christmas Eve tradition is to have seafood and pasta. Very different but pretty cool (I do like seafood a lot). Also the family buys presents for every Aunty and every Cousin, which is insane, but pretty sweet for the kids! I also went to Hillsongs Christmas Eve service which was awesome! My friend and I sat in the front row where Vanessa Hudgens and her boyfriend were sitting just down from us (just casually).

Christmas Day was a hoot! The kids opened their presents which was insane I have never seen so many presents been given my whole life, I was shocked. After that we headed to New Jersey to my host mums sisters house which is a mansion literally. It has a movie theatre inside, a library, gym and a sauna, it was massive and so nice!  It was real chilled. The kids and I played games, watched movies and ate (of course). oh and I wore my ugly Christmas sweater (best thing ever).

I hope y'all had a great Christmas, I sure did! Have an awesome New Years and maybe you will make a new years resolution that will actually last the whole year instead of just for a week or two.

peace out homies!

No time for my talent!

A lot has happened in the past few weeks, it has been very busy! I've had to put away my talent of twerking (for now) and have been busy working and studying hard! Well and going to parties and events because it is that time of year to be jolly (CHRISTMAS TIME!).
So at the end of November I went to the Christmas Spectacular Rockettes Show. It was one of the best shows I've seen, like all the acts were REALLY good. How it all was put together was so well done. And I was well impressed with the stage! It also made me feel all Christmasy, I was ready to put on my ugly Christmas sweater for sure!

Next came Thanksgiving and it SNOWED!!! The first snowfall for the winter, although it wasn't winter yet (not okay). We had a big family get together with all the cousins and aunties and uncles of my host family. We literally ate all day (this is not an exaggeration). We had turkey, mashed potatoes all the good stuff, it really felt like Christmas but without the presents.

The following day my kid had her sweet 16th party. So we all got dressed up looking all fancy and fly. It was like a wedding! Americans really do go all out for sweet 16th parties (was insane).
These are my kids. It was the middle ones birthday she looks so pretty!
My youngest kid and I taking selfies while we wait.

As you know I have been going to school taking a class and it's been pretty crazy doing exams, projects and studying. Tomorrow I have my finals and then il be done for this year (oh happy days).

Tonight while the kids and I were having dinner which was Tacos (we went Mexican), I put some more taco shells in the oven to grill and next minute I opened the oven door and they were on fire, literally!! I screamed, shut the oven door, turned the oven off and go to the kids 'get water' they were like 'no not water that will make it worse' I'm like 'umm umm ohk fire extinguisher' they don't have one. then my eldest kid was like 'I'm ringing mum' I'm like 'no ring the fire people!' Then they run outside and I'm in the kitchen running back and forth from the sink to the oven thinking of ways to put out the fire. Then I give up and run outside and thank goodness they have gone to get the neighbor and of course He comes in all calm, opens the oven and only the taco shells were on fire (we were thinking it was the whole oven). He just took them outside, these burnt charcoaled taco shells, then He goes home like it was no big deal! We were cracking up laughing cause we were thinking the oven was gonna blow up and that the house would be burnt down (yes we were abit OTT)!

So now you are all up to date with what's going on over here yay! I'm so excited for Christmas it's gonna be amazing and I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas as well.
Peace out
